HOW 2007 WAS FOR QUINTA DE VENTOZELO

"Our commercial team worked a lot this year to promote the brand Quinta de Ventozelo, and this year we reached the 25-countries mark.
A lot of effort has been done both on our side and on our collaborators' to make Quinta de Ventozelo a wine you can find in many of the best points of sale in an important part of the world, including shops and restaurants.
We’re certain that listening to our clients is the key to our success. On their advice and request we released new products that have been reviewed very positively.
Right now we’re in the process of preparing the release of a few exciting single-varietal wines not typically associated with the Douro Region or even Portugal...we’ll keep you up to date on this.
These efforts have gone hand in hand with very good reviews in international wine magazines, which you can find on our website.
In 2008 we’ll keep working hard to open further markets and of course maintain the ones we’ve got.
We’d like to sincerely thank you for your trust in our products, and we promise to keep on delivering high quality wines and some pleasant surprises in the coming year.
We’re very grateful that everyone's work at the Quinta has been rewarded with your trust.
And of course...Merry Christmas and happy 2008!"

JJ

José Juan Fernández, Director, Quinta de Ventozelo.

     LATEST REVIEWS AND AWARDS

2007 was a very good year for Quinta de Ventozelo: 4 of our wines were rated as Value Wines by Wine Spectator, making us one of the few Value Wineries from Portugal. All are under 25US$ and rated above 87 points:

Quinta de Ventozelo Tinta Roriz 2004
Quinta de Ventozelo Touriga Nacional 2004
Quinta de Ventozelo 2004
Quinta de Ventozelo Reserva 2003

Also, our Cister da Ribeira 2005 red wine was once again rated by Wine Spectator magazine as a Best Value, given its solid score, modest price and wide distribution:
Red Wine Cister da Ribeira 2005
86 - Best Value of the month: A ripe style, with dried cherry and red plum flavours. The finish is filled with smoke, spice and hints of pomegranate. Drink now. 12.500 cases made.Kim Marcus @ Wine Spectator, November 2007.

(And, our classic Cister da Ribeira 2001 was chosen as a match for a dish of Divina Giant Beans in Tomato Sauce in the 2007 Fall Issue of Wine & Spirit's Best in the World of Wine!)

Red Wine Quinta de Ventozelo 2004
88 Minerally and sanguine-tasting, with lots of fig, iron and dark plum notes. The finish is filled with coffee and smoke. Kim Marcus @ Wine Spectator, November 2007.

Red Wine Quinta de Ventozelo Reserva 2003
88 This is filled with jammy flavours of blackberry, raspberry and cherry. A spice and mineral note, with some orange rind, enlivens the finish. Kim Marcus @ Wine Spectator, November 2007.

Other reviews in non-specialized press:
Red Wine Quinta de Ventozelo Reserva 2003 This red wine from the Douro region in northeastern Portugal was a winner. The huge volume of luscious fruit imparted from Douro’s hot, dry climate was exquisitely balanced with tannins for a long, lingering finish. Aging in new French oak barrels mellowed the wine with spice. The Quinta de Ventozelo received rave reviews from many of the Top Shelf tasters. This was my hands-down favorite wine of the evening and worth every penny. Cindy Kibbe @ New Hampshire Business Review, May 2007.

Red Wine Quinta de Ventozelo 2003
BEST BUY
Produced from a melange of indigenous port grapes at the spectacular Ventozelo estate in the Douro Valley, this is a medium bodied, vibrant red with spicy, redcurrant fruit with hints of coffee and wood spice. Graeme White @ The Daily Record, 3rd November 2007.

Red Wine Vinzelo 2005
"...Four wine experts take part in the tasting of 50 bottles that cost $12 or less and come up with a few real deals.(...)"..and the 2005 Quinta de Ventozelo's "Vinzelo" from Portugal's Douro region, a wine Paopao cheered for its distinctive "grip." Stephen Meuse @ The Boston Globe , 31st October 2007. Read whole article here.
